National Parks Passports Accepted by Devils Lake State Park

2012 National Park Service Annual Pass
2012 National Park Service Annual Pass

I just returned from Zion National Park, where we had had to choose between a $25 week-long pass, or the more expensive $80 annual National Park Service pass. We chose the $25 pass because we didn't plan to go to other National Parks this year, but I learned something yesterday worth remembering: You can access Devils Lake State Park with an National Parks Service Annual Pass. Since the Ice Age National Scenic Trail passes through Devils Lake State Park, the Park accepts National Parks passes as valid admission to Devils Lake. I had no idea.

This non-obvious access solution might not help your average Wisconsinite who needs a State Parks pass to access lots of WI state parks every year. But for occasional Devils Lake visitors, especially those from out of state, it might be worth buying a NPS pass instead of a daily or annual WI State Parks pass if you are planning National Parks visits within the same calendar year. Not sure how many folks this might apply to, but I thought it might help someone out there.
